*UPDATE*
The UA AISES chapter aims to provide its members with access to as many academic and professional opportunities as possible. We believe that each opportunity helps to expand student networks, enhance awareness of STEM opportunities, and foster personal, professional, and academic development.
Summer Internships are great for students who are interested in research experience and/or summer employment during the summer in a field of interest. Most internships are paid, cover travel expenses, and provide students with valuable experience and connections.
Laboratory Experiences at the UA serve as the first step to connecting with research faculty, and pinpointing research interests. Labs seek out driven, reliable students to assist with various tasks - cleaning materials, maintain the lab(s), assisting with experiments, etc. Connecting with research faculty is a plus when it comes to applying to graduate programs.
STEM Conferences are a great way to become familiar with the vast opportunities available inside and outside the UA. Many conferences offer undergraduate and graduate students Travel Scholarships to alleviate the cost associated with conference registration, travel, meals, and lodging. AISES members are highly encouraged to apply for as many conferences as possible to ensure the best exposure to STEM opportunities.
Employment may be a ways off for some members, and it is also right around the corner for others. Members of AISES learn of unique employment opportunities across the nation, and also within tribal entities via the Winds of Change magazine, AISES emails, and through other AISES members. It's never to early to be aware of the employment opportunities in your field.
